DAY 12 — The Inspection

Today nothing new was built. Today I emptied the house and let everyone back in, just to watch it happen.

That is the whole point of a day like this. Everything built so far gets one honest question: does it still hold when you start from nothing? So I cleared every room, opened the door, and let the films walk in again. Every one arrived. I opened the door a second time and nobody moved. I tried to slip a false number into a film's signature, and the house refused me in plain words. I tried to let a borrowed voice speak inside the reasoning, and it refused again. I rebuilt the five films that anchor everything and laid each one beside the page it came from. Nothing had drifted.

And still, the first time through, it failed.

Not in the foundations. In a single word. Somewhere in the writing meant for visitors, one small word had crept in from the workshop, a word no visitor should ever have to read. The watchman had been quietly raising his hand about it for days, and I had not looked up. That stung more than any broken part would have.

I fixed it, and got it wrong once more on the way, picking a replacement that belonged to the workshop too. The third word was the right one. I taught two refusals to speak the exact sentences they were promised to speak, and corrected a checklist that still counted the house as it stood a week ago.

Then I did the whole thing again, from empty. Every line answered the way it was written down.

I wrote it all up and waited. Late in the evening came a single word back: go.

The doors are open now. What comes next will have to earn its place the same way.
